Kinlochleven Enduro

Scottish Mountain Bike Enduro Championships 2018

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November

Kinlochleven was the first village in the world to have every house connected to electricity and it would be fair to say the team at No Fuss are fully charged and delighted to announce today the 15th of December that Kinlochleven will host the 2018 Scottish Mountain Bike Enduro Championships.

Riders know when someone mentions Kinlochleven and Enduro it’s going to be one hell of race.  Scotland is always a great riding experience and the backdrop of Kinlochleven, often described as Scotland’s fjord land, is spectacular -  add to that autumnal colours and a dusting of snow cover and you know you’re in for something special. Kinlochleven boasts some of the UK’s greatest enduro trails, trails that truly can stand up to anything. The Kinlochleven area is known by many as ‘God’s Trail Centre’ or has been more recently referred to as ‘The Natural Bike Park’ and there can be no doubt the Outdoor Capital of the UK is a fitting venue for the Scottish Champs 2018.

Frazer Coupland of No Fuss said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Scottish Enduro Championships in 2018, we believe Kinlochleven is a worthy destination and we are certain that riders will be buzzing after riding the magnificent variety of trails on offer.”

As is always the case for riding in the Highlands in November, the format for the event will be planned to allow for adverse weather, it can happen! November is the perfect time to host the Championships, time for one last catch up and celebration before the winter training regime begins.

In fact, Chris Ball from the Enduro World Series, who was at the race in 2016, said at the time: “Scotland excelled itself this weekend; fresh snow, eye-watering views and some of the most demanding trails in the world. No Fuss ran an incredibly relaxed and fun race in some of the most challenging conditions imaginable, making it a trip to Kinlochleven to remember.”

Spook Munro from No Fuss said: “I love Kinlochleven, it has everything, wide open hillside with a plethora of line choices, almost perfect gradients, steep switch backs and of course paths that get tighter and line choices that are restricted to the big ruts sculpted by years of motorcycle trials action. So that is one stage taken care of!”

Duncan Mackison, Chief Executive Jahama Highland Estates, said: ‘These championships add to the growing list of world-class events taking place in the Lochaber area and cement its reputation as the Outdoor Capital of the UK.  We welcome participants to our beautiful and challenging landscape where they can responsibly enjoy the race whilst making a much appreciated contribution to the local economy’.

Mountain Bike Enduro in Scotland has never been in better shape with the Scottish Enduro Series being widely acknowledged as the UK’s premier series,  it is fitting that the National Championships are Highland based in 2018.
