About Us

HOW DID WE COME TO BE?

Whilst enjoying the euphoria of the Mountain Bike World Cup in June 2004, a chance conversation (over a lager or two) led to the forming of No Fuss Events in the October of 2004.  The idea being that there could be a new event introduced that would attract the mass section of the leisure market.  Not just the racers but an event where there was a challenge for everyone no matter what level of experience or ability.

In 2005 No Fuss introduced 10 Under the Ben and by 2006 we also had Relentless 24 and The Big Triathlon, an event which is probably the most challenging of its kind in the UK.

2007 saw the 10 Hour format being rolled out at Kirroughtree and Moray Monster trails. No Fuss had formed a reciprocal arrangement with Iconic Adventures of New Zealand, any rider who entered all three of the ten hour events was automatically entitled to enter the draw for a trip for two to New Zealand and the Moonshine trail Event.

WHO ARE WE?

Martin MacDonald

Born in Glencoe in 1969 and lived in Glencoe village until the age of twelve when he went with his parents to live in Dubai for four years.

Martin learned to ski with the Glencoe Ski Club at the age of 11 and was consumed by the skiing bug, after a few years he was working at Glencoe ski centre as a lift operator. He moved to the retail side of skiing in Ellis Brigham in Fort William for three years and then a period in Blue’s ski shop in Glasgow.

On his return to Fort William, Martin took up the position of manager of Nevis Range ski hire, from here then moved onto offbeat bikes as manager. Martin is now the owner and manager off this business.

He has been hooked on mountain biking and outdoor sports since an early age and has been involved in the outdoor industry all of his working life. Martin brings this knowledge to the business and can use this as a platform to further the aims of the business along with an extensive network of contacts within the outdoor industry.

Frazer Coupland

Born in Dumfries in 1964, Frazer moved to Fort William aged five.  He attended school at Fort William Primary School and then at Lochaber High School. On leaving school he joined the Royal Navy for six years where he served as a marine engineering electrical mechanic.

After much nagging from parents to get a proper job Frazer studied at Robert Gordon University and is now a qualified Social Worker.

Living in Fort William with his wife Aileen and their two children Keir and Drew, Frazer brings to No Fuss Events the drive to get on and be first to put into action the ideas.  He believes that most things are possible and will do his best to convince those who can help make it happen. Having worked in the Leisure and Holiday Industry over the years in varying locations he has a good idea of what works and what doesn't.

Having tried a proper job he is now trying to convince everyone that No Fuss is a proper job.
